Amnesty International Firefly Project works to raise awareness of human rights issues in New York City through arts-related events (including concerts, film screenings, lectures and workshops, and performances) that engage Amnesty International activists and the NYC metropolitan community.

Here's some information about past Amnesty International Firefly Project events.

+ "Jailhouse Drawings," an exhibition of drawings by prisoners presented in conjunction with ABC No Rio and the Columbia Human Rights Law Review
+ And So Forth: A Post-Election Assembly, a post-election conference for artists and activists in New York City co-sponsored with Theaters Against War and Art is Permitted Everywhere, currently planned for this December.
+ A screening of ENDURANCE by artists Brad McCallum and Jacqueline Tarry this October.
+ Firefly supports the New York City Human Rights Initiative through events and programs in New York City over the next year.
+ Firefly leaders presented a workshop at Amnesty International's Northeast Regional Conference.
+ 21 Sep 04: Firefly went to the Knitting Factory and Bowery Poetry Club to raise awareness of issues in Sudan for Amnesty's national Darfur Day of Action.
+ 17 Sep 04: Firefly co-sponsored the US launch of The Natashas: The New Global Sex Trade by Victor Malarek. The reading was part of a series of events on human trafficking.
+ 14 May 04: Firefly co-sponsored a screening of Lilya-4-Ever.
+ 16 April 04: Firefly produced Amnesty International's Annual General Meeting 2004 Afterparty featuring The Essex Green and members of Yo La Tengo.
+ 20 March 04: Firefly helped with this film screening of Kalama Sutta at New York's Pioneer Theater.
+ 10 Dec 03: Firefly produced this concert at Tonic last December curaed by Dougie Bowne and featuring John Zorn, Arto Lindsay, Anton Fier, Elliot Sharp, Erik Friedlander, Ikue Mori, Susie Ibarra, Dougie Bowne, and more.
+ 5 Nov 03: Firefly produced a workshop featuring Judith Malina and Hanon Reznikov that was a little while ago.
+ 3 Feb 03: We produced a concert at Galapagos featuring Travis Morrison, k., Doveman, Selva, and the King of France.
